確かに今の日本においては、表立った武力抗争などはない。
しかし、
この激変の世の中において変わっていかなければならないときが
くるかもしれない。

ナウシカで英語（２巻）：僧正（民衆）と皇帝（支配層）の対立
①「しずまれ！かしこくも皇弟階下のご降臨であるぞ。」（皇帝の手下）
「Silence! Know you that this is the brother of his majesty the Holy Emperor!」
majesty: もともとは尊厳・威厳の意味。
皇帝などを直接呼ぶのではなく「your majesty」などと呼ぶ。
②「腐海（ふかい）におかされ滅亡にひんしながら争いをやめぬ愚かさ。」（僧正）
「What madness is this, to wage war even as the spread of the sea of corruption drives us to the brink of extinction?」
wage: （戦争などを）遂行する
sea of corruption: 腐海（ふかい）
brink: ふち
③「汚れた手で生命をもてあそび戦に使わんとする僧会の傲慢」（僧正）
「The arrogance of the council of monks, tampering with the mysteries of life and turning them to war.」
arrogance: 傲慢さ
council: 評議会
tamper with: ～に手を加える
④「部族の忠誠をわが身の安寧（あんねい）と欲望の犠牲として恥じぬ皇帝の驕慢（きょうまん）」（僧正）
「The hubris of the emperor, sacrificing the loyalty of the Dorok tribes for his own greed and safety.」
hubris: 自信、尊大さ
greed: 欲望
⑤「お前たちには聞こえぬか！大地の怒りが深い海なりとなってとどろくのが！」（僧正）
「Can you not hear it for yourselves? The anger of the very earth, rising like the tide of the sea.」
⑥「そなたたちはいまよりさらに辛苦の中で生きるであろう」（僧正）
「No doubt the future will bring you even more suffering than you know today.」
no doubt: うたがいもなく、きっと
⑦「すでに帰るべき国を失い、多くの肉親を殺され強権の恣意の下に流浪をつづけねばならん。」（僧正）
「Already your homeland is lost, your relatives slaughtered. And now you must continue to wander, bent under the tyranny of overbearing authority.」
bent: 曲がった
tyranny: 絶対権力
overbear: 押さえつける
⑧「だが、ひるむな。困苦に耐えよ。屈辱の元でも子を産み育てよ。」（僧正）
「But do not despair, my family. Endure your pain, bear children even in these days of shame, and praise them well.」
despair: 絶望する
endure: 耐える
⑨「古き予言はまことであった。そなたたちを青き清浄の地へ導くものが現れたのだ。」（僧正）
「The ancient prophecies were true. There has come the advent of the angel of light, the one who will lead you to the pure land.」
prophecy: 予言
advent: 到来
⑩「その者青こ衣をまといて金色の野におりたつべし。失われた土地との絆をむすばん」
「That one shall come to you garbed in raiment of blue, descending upon a field of gold.」（僧正）
garb: ～を身に着けさせる
raiment: 衣服

皇帝（支配層）と僧正（民衆）という関係の中における対立を
英語で学んでみた。
