「卑弥呼: Himiko」
Himiko was a shamaness-queen of Yamatai-koku in Japan. People chose her as a ruler following decades of warfare among the kings of Wa. Early Japanese histories do not mention Himiko, but historians associate her with legendary figures such as Empress Consort Jingu.

今日はシャーロックホームズの本の中のダイアローグを行ってみよう。
会話調だと記憶にも残りやすく、さらにシャーロックホームズも楽しむことができる。
第一発見者のランス巡査との会話は続く。
Holmes: “What sort of a man was he?”
Holmes:「どんな感じの男だ？」
John: “He was an uncommon drunk sort o’ man. He’d ha’ found hisself in the station if we hadn’t been so took up.”
Rance:「度の過ぎた酔っぱらいだよ。手が塞がってなきゃ、とうに署のなかさ。」
Holmes: “His face—his dress—didn’t you notice them?”
Holmes:「顔――身なり――気づいたことは？」
Rance: “I should think I did notice them, seeing that I had to prop him up—me and Murcher between us. He was a long chap, with a red face, the lower part muffled round——”
Rance:「気づくもなにも、おれ――おれとマーチャがふたりでやつを起こさにゃならんかったんだ。やつは長身だな、赤ら顔で、顔の下半分に布を巻いて――」
Holmes: “That will do. What became of him?”
Holmes:「結構。その後、彼は？」
Rance: “We’d enough to do without lookin’ after him. I’ll wager he found his way home all right.”
Rance:「そんなやつの面倒を見る暇なんてありませんよ。どうせまっすぐ家に帰ったんでしょうに。」
Holmes: “How was he dressed?”
Holmes:「服は？」
Rance: “A brown overcoat.”
Rance:「茶褐色の上着。」
Holmes: “Had he a whip in his hand?”
Holmes:「手に鞭はなかったか？」
Rance: “A whip—no.”
Rance:「鞭？ いいや。」
Holmes: “He must have left it behind. You didn’t happen to see or hear a cab after that?”
Holmes:「置いてきたのだな。その後、馬車の姿や音はなかったかね？」
Rance: “No.”
Rance:「いいや。」
Holmes: “There’s a half-sovereign for you. I am afraid, Rance, that you will never rise in the force. That head of yours should be for use as well as ornament.
You might have gained your sergeant’s stripes last night. The man whom you held in your hands is the man who holds the clue of this mystery, and whom we are seeking.
There is no use of arguing about it now; I tell you that it is so. Come along, Doctor.”
Holmes:「では半ソヴリンだ。残念だ、ランス――それでは警察で昇進できない。君は頭を飾りにせず、使うべきだ。
そうすれば昨晩のうちに、巡査部長の縞へ増やせたものを。君が腕に抱えたその男は、この事件の手がかりを握り、かつ我々の捜している男なのだ。

Watson: “The blundering fool!
Watson:「とんちきだ。」
Holmes: Just to think of his having such an incomparable bit of good luck, and not taking advantage of it.”
Holmes:「考えてもみたまえ、あの男は一生に一度かもしれぬ幸運を手にしながら、逃してしまったのだ。」
Watson “I am rather in the dark still. It is true that the description of this man tallies with your idea
of the second party in this mystery.
But why should he come back to the house after leaving it? That is not the way of criminals.”
Watson:「私にはまだ雲をつかむようだ。その男の人相が、君がこの事件に係わるとした人物と符合している、それはわかる。
しかし、どうしてその人物は離れた後、また家に戻ってこなければならなかったんだ？ 犯罪者のやり口じゃあるまい。」
Holmes: “The ring, man, the ring: that was what he came back for. If we have no other way of catching him, we can always bait our line with the ring.
