前回は英語で伝説の武器について英語で解説してきた。
今回は伝説の防具に注目してみることにする。
ゲームの中で防具と言えば、兜、鎧、盾、靴の順番となる。
今回はまとめて防具として取り扱うことにする。
ゲームの中で、伝説の防具を装備すると、特殊効果があったりして、それに驚いたりしたものだ。
伝説と言うと、ギリシャ神話、北欧神話、アーサー王伝説、インド神話などいろいろあるが、前回の武器の時と同様に、全て一緒にまとめることにする。
それでは一つ目から見ていこう。
①イージスの盾（The Aegis）
ギリシャ神話に登場する盾。
アテナとゼウスの持ち物とされる。
イージスの盾にはゴーゴン（メデューサの頭）が埋め込まれている。
英語で解説：
The aegis is carried by Athena and Zeus. The aegis is a shield bearing the head of a Gorgon(メデューサの頭).
②ネメアの獅子の毛皮（Namean lion’s coat）
ギリシア神話。
英雄ヘラクレスの鎧。
12の試練の後、倒したネメアの皮で作った鎧。
英語で解説：
Heracles wore the Namean lion’s coat after he killed it, because it was impenetrable.
③ハデスの兜（Helm of Darkness）
ギリシア神話。
ゼウスの兄である冥界の王ハデスの兜。
かぶると姿が見えなくなるという。
英語で解説：
Helm of Darkness was the armor of Hades. It can make the wearer invisible.
④エーギルの兜（Helm of Aegir）
北欧神話に登場。
金の宝を守るドラゴン・ファフニールが所有していた。
シグルドがドラゴンを倒して手にする。
相手を恐れさせることができる。
英語で解説：
Helm of Aegir, who is the god of the sea. It can frighten people.
⑤ヘルメスの靴（Hermis’s sandals）
ギリシャ神話に登場。
ゼウスから与えられた靴。
金の羽がついており、空を飛べる。
英語で解説：
Zeus gave Hermis the golden winged sandals. They can make the wearer fly.
⑥ロキの靴（Loki’s shoes）
北欧神話に登場。
北欧神話の巨人ロキが履いていた靴。
空を歩くことができる。
英語で解説：
Loki’s shoes are flying shoes. They can make the wearer walk through the sky.
⑦ガラハッドの盾（Sir Galahad’s shield）
アーサー王伝説に登場。
円卓の騎士の一人。
ガラハッドの盾は白く赤い十字架が聖人の血で染められている。
ガラハッド以外が持つと災難がもたらされる。
英語で解説：
Sir Galahad is a knight of King Arthur’s Round Table. A white shield with a red cross was given to him. It will bring a misfortune if it’s held by other than Galahad.
⑧アイアスの盾（Aias’s shield）
ギリシャ神話に登場。
トロイア戦争においてアイアスはアキレスに次ぐ強者。
アイアスの盾は七重の皮で覆われており敵の攻撃を防いだ。
英語で解説：
Aias’s shield is the shield used by Aias. It was a bronze shield covered in seven layers of oxhide.
