Gregson and Lestrade「で、先生の見解は？」
Gregson and Lestrade: “What do you think of it, sir?”
Holmes: 「僕が出しゃばったりすると、事件の手柄を奪うことになるおそれが。
せっかく捜査が好転しているのだから邪魔をしては申し訳ない。だが捜査状況を逐一知らせてくれるのなら、僕は援助の手を惜しまない。

Holmes: “It would be robbing you of the credit of the case if I was to presume to help you.

In all probability the murderer had a florid face, and the finger-nails of his right hand were remarkably long.
