Topic: Should governments ban the use of fossil fuels in the near future?
Speech:
I believe that governments should ban the use of fossil fuels in the near future for several important reasons.
First, fossil fuels are the main cause of climate change. The burning of coal, oil, and natural gas releases large amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This leads to global warming, rising sea levels, and extreme weather conditions, all of which threaten our planet’s future.
Second, we already have renewable energy alternatives. Technologies such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power have advanced significantly and are becoming more affordable. Governments should invest more in these clean energy sources instead of continuing to rely on harmful fossil fuels.
Finally, continuing to use fossil fuels will only delay the transition to a sustainable economy. If we act now, we can create green jobs, improve public health, and ensure a better future for the next generations.
For these reasons, I strongly support banning the use of fossil fuels in the near future.
質疑応答(例)
Q1:
You mentioned renewable energy sources. Some argue they are still unreliable. What’s your opinion on that?
(再生可能エネルギーはまだ不安定だという意見もありますが、あなたの考えは?)
Sample Answer:
That’s a fair concern, but technological advancements have made renewable energy much more reliable than before. With energy storage systems like batteries, we can store excess power for when it’s needed. I think with proper infrastructure, the reliability issue can be solved.
Q2:
How should developing countries deal with the economic cost of switching from fossil fuels?
(発展途上国は化石燃料からの転換に伴う経済的負担をどうすべきでしょうか?)
Sample Answer:
I think developed nations should assist developing countries through funding and technology sharing. Climate change is a global issue, so cooperation is essential. Supporting poorer nations in their energy transition benefits everyone in the long run.
Q3:
Do you think people will accept higher energy prices for the sake of the environment?
(人々は環境のためにエネルギー価格の上昇を受け入れると思いますか?)
Sample Answer:
Initially, it might be difficult. But if people understand the long-term benefits, such as cleaner air and job creation in green industries, they may become more supportive. Education and transparent policy-making will be key.
