Topic: Should animal testing for scientific research be banned?
(科学研究のための動物実験は禁止されるべきか?)

🔹 スピーチ(2分)
I believe that animal testing for scientific research should be banned.

First, animal testing often involves cruelty and suffering. Animals are living beings with the ability to feel pain. It is morally wrong to harm them for human benefit, especially when alternatives exist.

Second, animal testing is not always effective. Results from animal tests do not always apply to humans, which means it can be misleading or even dangerous.

Third, there are now alternative methods, such as computer simulations, human-cell-based testing, and 3D tissue models. These methods are often more accurate and humane.

Therefore, I believe that animal testing should be phased out and replaced with modern, ethical research techniques.

🔹 Q&A例

Q1: But what if it’s necessary for developing life-saving medicine?
→ That’s a tough issue, but even then, we should explore all alternatives first. Investment in non-animal methods can eventually replace the need for animal testing.

Q2: Isn’t animal testing heavily regulated already?
→ In some countries, yes. But regulations vary, and many tests still cause pain and suffering. Banning it globally would ensure consistent ethical standards.

Q3: What can individuals do to help reduce animal testing?
→ People can support cruelty-free products and companies that invest in alternative research. Consumer choices have a big impact.
