物語は、若い格闘家の早乙女乱馬が主人公です。
彼は中国で修行中に呪われた泉に落ちてしまい、冷たい水をかぶると女の子に、熱いお湯をかけると男の子に戻るという体質になってしまいます。
乱馬は天道道場に住み、天道あかねという女の子と婚約します。
2人の関係は、ケンカや誤解、やきもちなどでいつもドタバタしています。
この作品は、個性的なキャラクターたちや、変身のギャグ、奇想天外な格闘シーンでとても有名です。
笑いの中に、恋や友情、そして自分らしさとは何かというテーマも込められています。
The story follows Ranma Saotome, a young martial artist who, during training in China, falls into a cursed spring. Because of the curse, whenever cold water touches him, he turns into a girl, and hot water changes him back into a boy.
Ranma lives at the Tendo Dojo, where he is engaged to Akane Tendo, a strong but short-tempered girl. Their relationship is full of comedy, fights, jealousy, and misunderstandings.
The series is famous for its unique characters, silly transformations, and funny martial arts battles.

早乙女 乱馬（さおとめ らんま）
物語の主人公。格闘技の達人で、中国での修行中に呪いを受け、冷たい水で女、熱いお湯で男になる体質です。自信家で頑固なところもありますが、根は優しく正義感があります。
Ranma Saotome is the main character of the story. He is a highly skilled martial artist who was cursed during training in China. Because of the curse, he turns into a girl when splashed with cold water and changes back into a boy with hot water. He is confident, brave, and sometimes stubborn, but deep down he is kind and caring.
天道 あかね（てんどう あかね）
乱馬の婚約者で、天道三姉妹の末っ子。運動神経がよく、気が強くて短気です。乱馬とはよくケンカしますが、心の中では彼を大切に思っています。
Akane Tendo is Ranma’s fiancée and one of the three Tendo sisters. She is strong, athletic, and has a short temper, especially when Ranma teases her. Although she often argues with Ranma, she actually cares deeply about him.
早乙女 玄馬（さおとめ げんま）
乱馬の父で格闘技の師匠でもあります。呪いによって冷たい水でパンダになる体質です。ずるくて怠け者ですが、時々父親らしい助言をすることもあります。
Genma Saotome is Ranma’s father and a martial arts master. He was also cursed in China and turns into a panda when splashed with cold water. Genma is lazy, selfish, and always hungry, but sometimes he gives wise advice to his son.
天道 かすみ（てんどう かすみ）
天道家の長女。穏やかで優しく、家事全般を引き受けています。いつも丁寧な言葉遣いで、家族からも近所からも信頼されています。
Kasumi Tendo is the eldest of the Tendo sisters. She is calm, gentle, and kind. She takes care of the household after her mother’s death and always speaks politely. Everyone in the house depends on her.
天道 なびき（てんどう なびき）
天道家の次女。頭がよく、現実的でお金に目がない性格です。人の弱みを利用してお金を稼ぐことがありますが、家族思いの一面もあります。
Nabiki Tendo is the middle Tendo sister. She is clever, practical, and loves money. She often takes advantage of other people’s situations to make a profit. Despite her selfish attitude, she cares about her family.
天道 早雲（てんどう そううん）
天道家の父で、道場の師範。乱馬とあかねを結婚させて、道場を継がせようとしています。涙もろく、感情豊かな性格です。
Soun Tendo is the father of the three Tendo sisters and the head of the Tendo Dojo. He wants Ranma and Akane to get married so that their martial arts schools can unite. He is emotional and often cries easily.
シャンプー
中国の女戦士で、乱馬を愛しています。呪いによって冷たい水で猫になる体質です。片言の日本語を話し、乱馬を追いかけ回します。
Shampoo is a Chinese Amazon warrior who is in love with Ranma. She was also cursed in China and turns into a cat when splashed with cold water. She speaks Japanese with a cute accent and is very persistent about winning Ranma’s heart.
ムース Mousse
中国出身の格闘家で、シャンプーに片想いしています。呪いによって冷たい水でアヒルになります。近視でいつも分厚いメガネをかけていますが、隠し武器の使い手です。
Mousse is a Chinese martial artist who has loved Shampoo since childhood. He is also cursed and turns into a duck when splashed with cold water. He is near-sighted and always wears thick glasses, but he is skilled in hidden weapons techniques.
リョウガ（響 良牙）
乱馬のライバルであり友人でもあります。方向音痴で、どこへ行くにも迷子になります。呪いで黒い子豚（Pちゃん）に変わります。あかねを密かに想っており、乱馬に嫉妬することもあります。
Ryoga Hibiki is Ranma’s rival and sometimes friend. He has a terrible sense of direction and always gets lost. He was cursed and turns into a small black pig (P-chan) when splashed with cold water. He secretly loves Akane and becomes jealous of Ranma.
