Mnemonic: up + end → 「上に向けて終わらせる」→ 物を逆さまにするイメージ
Association: Imagine a waiter upending a soup bowl by accident, spilling everything.
Sentence: The scandal upended his career overnight.
（そのスキャンダルは一晩で彼のキャリアをひっくり返した。）
- usurp（奪う、横領する）
Mnemonic: sounds like “you slurp” → imagine someone stealing your drink by slurping it up.
Association: A cunning minister usurps the throne from the king.
Sentence: He tried to usurp power by manipulating the council.
（彼は評議会を操って権力を奪おうとした。）
- vanquish（征服する、打ち負かす）
Mnemonic: van + quish → imagine a van crushing enemies.
Association: A knight vanquishes a dragon in battle.

Mnemonic: vile（卑劣な）+ ify（する） → 卑劣な言葉を吐くイメージ

Mnemonic: sounds like “vacuum oscillate” → 掃除機が左右に揺れるイメージ

Mnemonic: way + lay → 「道に横たわる」→ 道端で待ち伏せする

- wrangle（口論する、もつれ合う）
Mnemonic: sounds like wrestle + tangle → 言葉で格闘するイメージ
Association: Two cowboys wrangle over cattle ownership.
Sentence: They wrangled for hours about the contract terms.
（彼らは契約条件について何時間も口論した。）
- wage（行う、戦う／賃金を払う）
Mnemonic: “wage war” → 定番のコロケーションで覚える
Association: A king wages war on his enemies.
Sentence: The government has promised to wage a campaign against corruption.
（政府は汚職に対するキャンペーンを展開すると約束した。）

- array（配列、整列、勢ぞろい）
🔗 連想法: 「a ray（一本の光線）」がたくさん並んでいるイメージ → 光線が整列して「配列」や「勢ぞろい」。
👉 例：a dazzling array of jewels（宝石のきらめく並び）。
- alliance（同盟、提携）
🔗 連想法: 「ally（味方）」が一緒になる → alliance は「味方同士の結びつき」。
👉 国同士が協力するときに使う。
- annihilation（全滅、壊滅）
🔗 連想法: 語源 nihil = nothing（無） → 全部が「無」になる → 全滅。
👉 「アニメで星が消し飛ぶ＝annihilation」を想像。
- accusation（告発、非難）
🔗 連想法: accuse（非難する）から派生。→ 「あっ！ 急に accuse！」で「告発」。
👉 法廷での「正式な非難」に使う。
- affidavit（宣誓供述書）
🔗 連想法: 「I have faith（信じます）」→ 誓って書く文書 → affidavit。
👉 法律で「私は本当のことを誓います」という書面。
- accomplice（共犯者）
🔗 連想法: ac（一緒に）＋complice（複雑）→ 一緒に犯罪の複雑さを共有する人。
👉 「一緒にコンプリート（complete）した悪事の仲間」。
- acquittal（無罪判決）
🔗 連想法: quit（やめる）に似てる → 罪を「quit（やめる）」＝無罪放免。
👉 裁判で「あなたは無罪です」と解放されるイメージ。
- aberration（逸脱、異常）
🔗 連想法: ab-（離れて）＋err（誤る）→ 普通から外れること。
👉 「あべ（ab）こべ」になるイメージで「逸脱」。
- amendment（修正、改正）
🔗 連想法: amend（訂正する）＋ment → 法律などを直すこと。
👉 アメリカ憲法の「Amendments（修正条項）」でおなじみ。
- abstention（棄権）
🔗 連想法: ab-（離れる）＋stain/tenere（つかむ）→ 手を出さない → 棄権。
👉 投票で「私は abstention（棄権）します」。
- annulment（無効、取り消し）
🔗 連想法: null（ゼロ、無）→ 何もなかったことにする → 無効。
👉 結婚の無効（marriage annulment）に使うことが多い。
- ailment（軽い病気、不調）
🔗 連想法: ail（苦しめる）＋ment → 体の小さなトラブル。
👉 「病気＝illness」より軽い感じ。
- anatomy（解剖学、構造）
🔗 連想法: ana-（上へ）＋tome（切る）→ 体を切って調べる → 解剖学。
👉 「人体の構造」を学ぶ学問。
- anesthetic（麻酔薬）
🔗 連想法: an-（否定）＋esthetic（感覚）→ 感覚をなくす → 麻酔。
👉 手術で打たれるアレ。
- autism（自閉症）
🔗 連想法: auto-（自分）＋ism（状態）→ 「自分の世界に閉じこもる状態」。
👉 医学的な発達障害の一つ。
