Initially, I had planned a peaceful vacation on a barren island, far from the rowdy city. The air was static, and the sea was calm, offering a somber but beautiful view. The island, nominally called “Paradise,” was actually quite sterile — no trees, no animals, just endless sand.
Suddenly, a ponderous creature emerged from the sea: a turtle the size of a car. I was petrified but fascinated. It was elusive, disappearing into the waves whenever I approached. My rudimentary knowledge of marine life was useless.
Then, out of nowhere, came a relentless storm. The sky turned dark; the once static scene became chaotic. I ran into a cave, where I met an uncouth hermit who claimed to be the island’s “cardinal protector.” His explanation was so banal that I doubted his sanity.
He explained, “There’s one rule here, namely: never disturb the giant turtle.”
Ultimately, I escaped the island unharmed, but my understanding of nature remained as elusive as ever.
