Mnemonic: “Arcane = ARt + CAN’t understand easily.”
Association: Imagine an old wizard writing spells in a dusty book—no one can understand it but him.
Sentence: The ancient manuscript was written in an arcane language.

Gaudy（けばけばしい・派手すぎる）
Mnemonic: “Gaudy = God, that’s gaudy!”
Association: A man wears a golden suit with flashing lights at a funeral.
Sentence: Her dress was too gaudy for a funeral.
（彼女のドレスは葬式にはけばけばしすぎた。）
Gullible（だまされやすい）
Mnemonic: Gullible people “gulp” any story.
Association: A kid believes that unicorns deliver mail.
Sentence: He’s so gullible he believed the moon is made of cheese.
（彼はとてもだまされやすくて、月がチーズでできていると信じていた。）
Confrontational（対立的な・けんか腰の）
Mnemonic: Confrontational people like “confronting” others.
Association: A guy yells in every meeting, even over coffee flavor.
Sentence: His confrontational tone made everyone uncomfortable.

Corrosive（腐食性の・むしばむ）
Mnemonic: “Corrosive” things make metal cry.
Association: Acid slowly eats through a steel pipe.
Sentence: This chemical is highly corrosive—don’t touch it!

Disorientated（方向感覚を失った・混乱した）
Mnemonic: “Disoriented” = “not oriented.”
Association: You wake up on a rollercoaster.
Sentence: I felt completely disorientated after the spinning ride.
（回転する乗り物のあとで、完全に方向感覚を失った。）
Flamboyantly（華やかに・派手に）
Mnemonic: “Flaming boy” dances brightly = flamboyant.
Association: A dancer wears feathers, glitter, and fire on stage.
Sentence: He entered the room flamboyantly, throwing rose petals.
（彼は華やかにバラの花びらをまきながら部屋に入ってきた。）
Fallible（誤りやすい・不完全な）
Mnemonic: Even a “fabulous” person is “fallible.”
Association: A genius forgets his pants on stage.
Sentence: Everyone is fallible—we all make mistakes.
（誰でも誤りを犯すもの—間違いはつきものだ。）
Formidable（手強い・恐るべき）
Mnemonic: “Formidable” = “fear + admirable”
Association: A small boxer knocks down giants.
Sentence: She’s a formidable opponent in debate.
（彼女はディベートで手強い相手だ。）
Hereditary（遺伝性の）
Mnemonic: “Hered” = “heredity,” like family tree.
Association: A child has the same curly red hair as grandma.
Sentence: Baldness is often hereditary in men.

Headless（首のない・混乱した）
Mnemonic: Like a chicken running “headless” = chaotic.
Association: A chicken running around after its head is cut.

Haphazardly（でたらめに・無計画に）
Mnemonic: “Hap” + “hazard” = risky randomness

Imprudent（軽率な・思慮に欠ける）
Mnemonic: Not “prudent” = not careful.

Inadvertently（うっかり・不注意に）
Mnemonic: “Advertently” = on purpose → “In-” = not on purpose.
Association: You accidentally send a love letter to your boss.
Sentence: She inadvertently revealed the secret.

Lousy（ひどい・最低の）
Mnemonic: “Lousy” = sounds like “louse” (シラミ) → dirty, bad
Association: A pizza with toothpaste on it.
Sentence: I had a lousy day—everything went wrong.

連想：「死（し）」＋「cease（終わる）」＝人生が終わった状態。
イメージ：時計の針が止まり、花が枯れている様子。
説明：亡くなった状態を表す丁寧な言い方。「死んだ」と直訳するよりも、ニュースや文書で使う上品な言い回し。
例：The deceased man was honored at the ceremony.
（その故人は式典でたたえられた。）
gregarious（社交的な）
連想：「グレ（群れ）」＋「ガリガリ」＝群れでガヤガヤと話すイメージ。
イメージ：友達とパーティーで大笑いしている人。

homogeneous（均質の・同種の）
連想：「ホーム（同じ）」＋「ジーニアス（genius）」→同じ頭脳レベルの人たち＝均質
イメージ：全部同じ色や形のボールが並んでいる。
説明：全部が同じ種類や構成でできている状態。科学や社会学でも使う。
例：Japan is relatively homogeneous culturally.
（日本は文化的に比較的均質な国だ。）
menacingly（脅すように）
連想：「メナス（menace）＝脅威」＋「〜ly」＝脅かす感じで
イメージ：ナイフをちらつかせながらゆっくり近づいてくる影。
説明：不安や恐怖を感じさせるような態度や雰囲気。
例：The dog growled menacingly at the stranger.
（その犬は見知らぬ人に向かって脅すようにうなった。）
naive（世間知らずの・純真な）
連想：「ナイーブ」と日本語でも使われる→ピュアでだまされやすい。
イメージ：詐欺師の話を信じてしまうお人よし。
説明：経験が浅く、物事をそのまま信じやすい性格。悪く言えば甘い。

traumatic（精神的外傷のある）
連想：「トラウマ」＋「ティック」＝トラウマが体にしみついている感じ
イメージ：戦争の記憶で眠れない兵士。
説明：心に大きな傷を残すような経験。PTSDと関連することも。

（その事故はトラウマ的な経験だった。）
terrestrial（地球の・陸上の）
連想：「テラ（地球）」＋「ストリアル（領域）」→地球の領域
イメージ：宇宙人 vs 地球人（terrestrial being）
説明：地球に関する、または宇宙に対して地上の意味。動物や放送にも使う。

palatable（おいしい・心地よい）
連想：「パラッ」とふりかけたら「食べられたぶる」＝おいしくなった！
イメージ：シェフがスパイスを加えた瞬間、顔がパッと明るくなる。
説明：味が良いという意味だけでなく、考えや案が「受け入れやすい」時にも使う。

recklessly（無謀に・向こう見ずに）
連想：「レック（wreck＝事故）」＋「レスリー（リスクなしで突っ走る）」
イメージ：ノーヘルで暴走するバイク乗り。
説明：危険を顧みず行動する様子。

ruthless（無慈悲な）
連想：「ルース＝あわれみ」＋「レス＝ない」＝あわれみがない
イメージ：相手が倒れても攻撃をやめない戦士。
説明：感情を持たず冷酷に行動するさま。ビジネスや戦いでよく使う。
例：The boss is known for his ruthless decisions.

連想：「ラッシュ＝急ぐ」→急いで決めてしまう＝軽率

説明：言い古されて新鮮味がない表現やアイデア。
