以下の6つがTOEICのスピーキングである。

Q1: Read a text aloud:提示された文章を読み上げるセクション。発音、イントネーション、流暢さを評価。

Q2: Describe a picture:写真を見て、その写真について詳しく説明するセクション。語彙力や文の構造を評価。

Q3: Respond to questions:質問に対して適切に答えるセクション。ビジネスシチュエーションに関連する質問が出されることが多い。

Q4: Respond to Questions Using Information Provided:提示された情報を基に質問に答えるセクション。例えば、スケジュールやグラフに基づいて答えるなど。

Q5: Express an opinion:特定のトピックについて自分の意見を述べるセクション。意見を述べる能力と、その意見をサポートする論理的な理由が求められる。

Q6: Propose a solution:問題やシチュエーションに対して解決策を提案するセクション。ビジネスでの問題解決能力が評価される。


Q1: Read a text aloud

Instructions: You will read a text aloud. You will have 45 seconds to prepare and 45 seconds to read the text.


Text:
“Thank you for choosing our airline. We are committed to providing excellent service and ensuring your safety throughout your flight. Please follow all instructions from our cabin crew and enjoy your journey with us.”


Example Answer:

Q2: Describe a picture

Instructions: You will see a picture. In 30 seconds, you will describe what is happening in the picture. You will have 45 seconds to speak.


Picture Description Example:
Imagine a picture of a busy street with people walking, cars driving by, and a coffee shop on the corner.


Example Answer:
“In this picture, there is a busy street with several people walking on the sidewalk. Some are holding shopping bags, and others are talking on their phones. To the right, there is a coffee shop with a few people sitting outside enjoying their drinks. In the background, cars are driving by, and there is a traffic light at the intersection. The weather looks sunny, and everyone seems to be going about their day.”

Q3: Respond to questions

Instructions: You will answer three questions about a specific topic. You will have 15 seconds to respond to questions 1 and 2, and 30 seconds for question 3.


Topic: Eating out


Question: How often do you eat at restaurants?
Example Answer:
“I eat at restaurants about twice a week. It’s convenient when I don’t feel like cooking or when I want to try something new.”


Question: What type of restaurant do you like the most?
Example Answer:
“I like Italian restaurants the most. I love pasta, and Italian food always has such fresh ingredients.”


Question: Describe a memorable experience you had at a restaurant.
Example Answer:
“One memorable experience I had was at a small family-owned restaurant in Italy. The food was incredible, and the owner was so friendly. He even gave us a tour of the kitchen and showed us how they make their pasta by hand. It was a unique and personal experience that I will never forget.”

Q4: Respond to Questions Using Information Provided

Instructions: You will hear information about a schedule, chart, or advertisement, and then you will answer three questions. You will have 15 seconds to respond to each question.


Scenario: You are listening to a flight schedule.

  • Flight AA100 to New York: 10:00 AM
  • Flight BA200 to London: 12:30 PM
  • Flight CA300 to Tokyo: 3:45 PM

Question: What time does the flight to New York depart?
Example Answer:
“The flight to New York departs at 10:00 AM.”


Question: Which flight departs after 12:00 PM?
Example Answer:
“The flights to London and Tokyo depart after 12:00 PM.”


Question: If you want to go to Tokyo, when should you be at the airport?
Example Answer:
“If you want to go to Tokyo, you should be at the airport before 3:45 PM.”

Q5: Express an opinion

Instructions: You will hear a problem and need to propose a solution. You will have 30 seconds to prepare and 60 seconds to respond.


Scenario:
Your friend is hosting a party but is worried there won’t be enough food for everyone. What would you suggest?


Example Answer:
“If you’re worried about not having enough food, I suggest you prepare a mix of simple, quick dishes that can be made in large quantities, like pasta or sandwiches. You could also ask some of your friends to bring a dish each, which would help share the responsibility. Another idea is to order pizza or other takeout that can be delivered quickly if you run out of food. This way, you can make sure everyone is fed without too much stress.”

Q6: Propose a solution

Instructions: You will be asked to give your opinion on a topic. You will have 15 seconds to prepare and 60 seconds to respond.


Question: Do you think people spend too much time on their phones? Why or why not?


Example Answer:
“Yes, I think people spend too much time on their phones these days. Many people are constantly checking social media or messaging apps, even when they are with friends or family. It can be distracting and prevents people from fully engaging in the moment. I also think that spending too much time on phones can affect our sleep, productivity, and mental health. However, phones are also important tools for communication and work, so it’s all about finding a good balance.”
