Alacrity (活発さ、敏速さ)

Mnemonic: “Alice’s alacrity to start every day with energy makes her an early bird.”
Association: Imagine someone like Alice being eager and ready to jump into action as soon as the day begins.
Context: She accepted the new project with alacrity, showing her enthusiasm.


Credulity (軽信、だまされやすいこと)

Mnemonic: “In fairy tales, children show credulity, believing even the wildest stories.”
Association: Think of a child easily trusting anything, especially stories about fairies.
Context: His credulity led him to believe in scams too easily.


Captivation (魅了、心を奪われること)

Mnemonic: “The magician’s tricks held the audience in complete captivation.”
Association: Imagine the audience staring wide-eyed in amazement at a magic show.

Cessation (停止、中止)

Faction (派閥、党派)

Hunch (直感、予感)

Whim (気まぐれ)

Mnemonic: “On a whim, they decided to take a road trip without any plan.”

連想法: 「オブリビオン」という映画のタイトル→「全てが忘却された未来」を想像する。


Quirk (癖、奇癖)

連想法: クイックに変わったことをする人→「奇妙な癖」がある人。


Rampage (暴れ回ること)

連想法: 映画「ランペイジ」→モンスターが暴れ回る映像を連想。


Preoccupation (没頭、夢中)

連想法: 「プレ」→「オキュペーション(職業)」→仕事に夢中になる。


Truancy (無断欠席、怠け)

連想法: 「トゥルー」→「シー」→海を見るために「無断欠席」するイメージ。


Ultimatum (最後通告)

連想法: 「アルティメット」→究極→最後の通告を意味する。


Upheaval (大変動、激変)

連想法: 「アップ」→「ヒーヴァル」→地面が「激変」して隆起するイメージ。


Scratch out a living (かつかつの生活をする)

連想法: 「スクラッチ」→硬い表面を爪で引っ掻いて、少しずつ何かを得るイメージ→やっとのことで「かつかつの生活をする」。


Store up (を蓄える)

連想法: 「ストア」→お店に商品を「蓄える」→食料や情報をどんどん蓄えていくイメージ。


See the handwriting on the wall (不吉な前兆を感じる)

連想法: 壁に書かれた「手書きの文字」を見て、不吉なメッセージを受け取る→「不吉な前兆を感じる」。


Simmer down (気持ちを静める)

連想法: 「シマー」→「ぐつぐつ煮る」→沸騰した気持ちが徐々に「静まる」イメージ。


Sit on a gold mine (宝の持ち腐れである)

連想法: 「ゴールドマイン(金鉱)」に座っている→多くの財産があるのに、うまく活用できていない「宝の持ち腐れ」。
